Then this course will suit you, as it covers "A Year in the Garden", giving you the opportunity to focus on a wide range of horticultural practices and techniques throughout the year.

This will be of interest to:

  • Keen gardeners, hoping to or wanting to improve their gardening skills,
  • Those looking for confidence to take that step into employment in the horticulture industry 
  • As well as self-employed gardeners wishing to up-skill and broaden their professional knowledge.

The diploma covers a wide range of horticultural practices including but not limited to;

  • Propagation,
  • Ground preparation, 
  • Seasonal garden maintenance,
  • Plant selection and identification, 
  • Plant establishment and health
  • Lawn care.

Entry Requirements

Previous experience is not necessary; a general interest in horticulture, plants and their requirements is all you need.

Steel toe capped boots are required for this course, you may wish to bring your own secateurs.

The recent restoration of the walled garden has been managed by Plumpton College. One Garden Brighton is the home of the college’s horticultural centre of excellence, a space for training and education. The campus buildings are nestled within the walls itself and you will see students designing, planting and maintaining the grounds as a showcase for innovation.
