This year Plumpton College is welcoming more students than ever. As a result of launching new programmes in our motor vehicle, metalsmithing and agricultural machinery division, we are now recruiting a Workshop Supervisor. Reporting to the Workshop Manager and working with two Workshop Technicians, you will be part of a team that provides crucial technical resources and support to our teaching teams and students.
The Workshop Team is responsible for the safe operation of our engineering workshops and forge. The team ensures that workspaces are prepared for lessons, technical resources are ordered and available from well-organised stores, undertakes maintenance and repairs to ensure workshops, machinery and equipment are operational, and provides technical support to cross-college teams. The team also interacts with and supports students and a range of staff from across the college throughout the college day.
The Workshop Supervisor will take responsibility for:
- Ensuring our agricultural engineering workshops, machinery and engineering equipment are operational
- Preparing technical resources in advance of lessons, as requested by Lecturers
- Stock ordering
- COSHH compliance
- Health and safety compliance
- Day to day supervision of workshop technicians
- Repairing machinery, equipment and vehicles as required
The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
- Solid engineering and technical skills and experience
- A practical working knowledge of a wide range of machinery and equipment.

- Commitment to providing a high-quality teaching environment for our students
- Strong interpersonal skills, able to build positive working relationships with staff and students
A flexible and supportive approach, able to solve problems and respond to the changing requirements of the different workshops throughout the day
