Description

Workshop Supervisor (Motor Vehicle, Metalsmithing and Agricultural Machinery)

Reporting to: Workshop Manager

Working Hours: Full-Time (37.5h per week)

Salary: £25,829 to £29,762 depending on experience

Annual Leave: 26 electable days, 8 statutory days and up to 5 efficiency closure days at Christmas

This year Plumpton College is welcoming more students than ever. Thanks to this continued growth and expansion within the division for motor vehicle, metalsmithing and agricultural machinery, we are delighted to be expanding the capacity of our technician team who provide crucial support to the lecturers, instructors and students within the curriculum area.

Working alongside technicians in motor vehicle and metalsmithing, the Workshop Supervisor will report directly to the Workshop Manager and hold day-to-day functional responsibility for the workshops, machinery and engineering equipment. This role requires a commitment to safe working practices, teamwork and collaboration, and a shared goal of ensuring that high-quality teaching and learning can be delivered by the educators within the division. Managing the requirements of the different workshops throughout the day and monitoring stock levels, repair requirements and requests from teaching staff means that strong communication and organisational skills will be advantageous, as is a background in engineering with practical working knowledge of a wide range of machinery and equipment.

The successful candidate will have outstanding technical skills within a workshop environment and be organised and strategic with regards to the day-to-day management of the workspace and daily briefings and reviews with the individual section technicians. They will manage stock within the workshop areas and coordinate provision of resources required in the agricultural engineering area.
