Description
The job will involve working, with full supervision, with my self a trained permaculture gardener (qualified with PDC through Brighton Permaculture Trust) and existing team of 2 other gardeners:-
- Building up beds with soil/ manure and adding mulch
- Sowing seeds both in pots/trays and directly into beds
- Transplanting seedlings/ more mature plants/ small fruit trees into beds
- Propagating plants/cuttings
- Bulb planting
- Weeding and watering beds
- Creating raised beds
- Working with rainwater collection /irrigation system
- Setting up new and using contents of established compost tea water butts
- Managing compost area - adding materials/ turning/ sieving compost for seed sowing/ use around the garden.
- Establishing and then managing small greenhouse
- Helping to create and establish a small wildlife pond area
- Manual hedge trimming/bush and shrub/fruit tree pruning- all reachable from ground level and no use of power machinery required.
- Maintaining an area for some hens
Learning on the job about permaculture/organic principles and putting them into practice.
I can offer £60/day - max 6 hrs work/day, to include a full (often hot) lunch served on site and hot/cold drinks throughout day plus transport expenses. All tools already on site/ provided.
