The Maintenance Volunteers help keep Dalesdown in great shape, ensuring it remains a safe, welcoming, and well-maintained space for everyone to enjoy. This role is hands-on, involving small repairs, routine checks, and general upkeep to help keep the centre running smoothly. There are also occasional larger projects that are being undertaken by the maintenance team which volunteers can get involved in. The team of volunteers assemble on Wednesdays, generally arriving at 09.30 - 10.00 and stay as long as they can, although volunteers are also welcomed at other times in the week, if this suits better.
Main Duties and Responsibilities include:
• General building maintenance, including interior and exterior window cleaning, carpet cleaning, painting when needed
• General grounds maintenance, including grass cutting, hedge and bush trimming, weeding, leaf clearing, planting new shrubs and plants as and when needed or donated
• Carrying out small repairs and maintenance tasks as needed
• Undertaking regular monthly checks of equipment and facilities to ensure safety and good working order of all areas of the site
• Assembling or moving furniture and equipment when needed
• Keeping storage spaces and equipment tidy to ensure safe and easy access.
• Following health and safety procedures to ensure a safe environment for everyone.
