Position - Rural Graduate Surveyor Office Location - Shaftesbury, Dorset

We are seeking a motivated Graduate Rural Surveyor to join our rural professional team and work towards qualification through the RICS Assessment of Professional Competence (APC). This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate looking to build a broad skill set across rural estate management, valuation, and professional

work while receiving structured APC support.

 

You will work closely with experienced chartered surveyors, gaining hands-on exposure to a wide range of rural property matters and developing the competencies required for RICS chartership.

 

Key Responsibilities Professional & Technical Work

• Assist with the management of rural estates, farms and commercial units

• Support valuation work for a variety of purposes, including secured lending, tax, and estate planning

• Undertake inspections and prepare reports under supervision

• Assist with landlord and tenant matters, including agricultural tenancies and licences

• Support agency work such as sales and lettings of rural property and land

• Assist with compensation claims

• Assist with grant subsidies and applications

 

APC & Professional Development

 

• Actively work towards RICS chartership via the APC route

• Attend internal and external training courses, CPD events, and professional meetings

• Work closely with an appointed APC supervisor

 

Client & Team Support

 

• Liaise with clients, landowners, farmers, solicitors, and other professional advisors

• Support senior surveyors in delivering high-quality advice

• Build strong internal relationships across the business

 

Person Specification Essential

• RICS-accredited degree in Rural Land Management, Real Estate, or a related discipline

• Eligibility to enrol on the RICS APC pathway

• Strong interest in rural property and land-based issues

• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel

• Good written and verbal communication skills

• Organised, proactive, and keen to learn

 

Desirable

 

• Previous placement or graduate experience in rural surveying or estate management

• Knowledge of agricultural tenancies and rural valuation principles

• Understanding of the UK rural property market
