EHE process application for 2027/28 entry

The EHE application form will open on the 14–16 page of the Plumpton College website on 26th October 2026 and remain open for five weeks.

All applicants within this window will be invited to interview, but an interview does not guarantee a place as the provision is regularly oversubscribed. Interviews follow a standard set of questions and are not designed to catch students out. Students are encouraged to be honest so we can best support them if offered a place.

After the application window closes, an expression of interest form will remain available. Applicants will only be contacted if places become available in specific curriculum areas

Students should be prepared to discuss:

  • Why they have chosen their course(s)
  • Their future study or career interests
  • Relevant work experience, volunteering or research

Students should also bring a short handwritten or digital statement about themselves, no longer than one side of A4.

Some of our most oversubscribed vocational courses will hold an assessment day during February half term before offers are made. This is currently scheduled for Tuesday 16th February, but the date may change.

Students who are not offered a place but are deemed suitable will be added to the waiting list, which remains in place for one academic year only.

Following the interview: Families will be informed of the outcome in March, once all interviews and checks are complete.

14–16 Home Education at Plumpton: Your Questions Answered

There is no uniform at Plumpton College but students must bring the correct PPE for their studies: 14-16 PPE kit list.docx

In response to the government’s guidance on mobile phone use in schools for school-aged students, the college has introduced an updated mobile phone policy for our 14–16 students. This approach has been adapted to give our students appropriate independence with their devices, while also reducing the distractions that mobile phones can cause during lessons.

Students must not use mobile phones during lesson time unless directed to do so as part of a learning activity. Phones must be out of sight and on silent during lessons

The day will run from 9am until 4pm with breaks between lessons and an hour for lunch. All EHE students attend one assembly per week and all 3 days students also attend an enrichment session.

For home educated students, English and Maths provision enables students to study Functional Skills and/or GCSE qualifications, depending on the results of their initial assessment.  Groupings and levels are reassessed throughout the year to ensure that students are on the right course for their ability.

GCSE students usually sit exams in the equivalent of Year 11.

English and Maths teaching takes place on only one day of the overall timetable, so there is an expectation that learning is also supported at home. Homework is set weekly.
