With accommodation for up to 203 students on campus, living at Plumpton College can make it easier to study with us wherever you are coming from. Our residential provision was rated “Outstanding” in all areas by OFSTED, making it a welcoming and high-quality place to live while you study. We also offer bursary support, alongside help from a range of charitable foundations, to make accommodation more accessible to students from a wide range of financial backgrounds.

At Plumpton College, our excellent residential facilities accommodate up to 203 students in modern comfortable rooms. Rated by Ofsted as ‘Outstanding’ across all areas, you’ll find them a fantastic place to stay.

We offer our students accommodation on a full board basis only to ensure that all students studying here have all of their needs met and can focus on achieving the best they can on their programme.

The areas of our accommodation differ and do not all contain each type of room. The area allocated to each age group depends on application numbers and can change each year.

Accommodation applications open in December for the following September and are open all year round. For the best possible chance, we advise you to apply before April 1st.

  • Signing in and out procedure, under 18s have a 9pm check in and an 11pm curfew. Parents/guardians can opt to give permission each time their child leaves campus
  • 24 hour awake cover at student services
  • Comprehensive mental health services, including counselling, to help students cope with stress, anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues. Trained staff to recognise signs of distress and provide appropriate support, including signposting to our wellbeing and safeguarding team
  • Ensuring that all accommodation meets safety standards, including fire safety regulations, secure locks on doors and windows, and regular maintenance checks
  • Discrete CCTV network that provides a sense of security without breaking privacy
  • 1 to 1 tutorials available
  • Internet safety
  • Foster a sense of community and belonging among students by promoting inclusivity, respect, and mutual support. Encouraging students to look out for each other and intervene if they see someone in distress.
  • Trained staff that respond effectively to crisis situations and provide support to students in need. Developed protocols for identifying and addressing potential threats to student safety
  • Strong communication links with teaching staff and parents/guardians

We start the room allocation process during the Easter holidays. Rooms are primarily allocated to those living the furthest away, followed by course. Due to their early morning ‘routines’, agriculture and equine students are often prioritised. If you do live close by and want to experience our accommodation, you are still encouraged to apply should you want to have a residential experience.

Except for moving in day we can not allow any visitors in the accommodation. In the evening between 4:30pm-11:00pm and weekends 9:00am – 11:00pm you may have a current day student visit. They must check in at the student services desk and are only allowed in communal areas outside of the accommodation blocks. Parents/guardians are permitted onsite for drop offs and pick ups.

Over 18 students may leave site freely, but must sign out at the student services office for fire safety regulations.


Under 18 students may leave site, with pre authorised parent/guardian permission. Students should return to campus by 9:00pm check in unless permission has been given. All under 18 students should be in their corridors by 11:00pm and their own rooms by 00:00, unless signed out to return home.

Your room contract does not include: October half-term, Christmas, Easter or the summer holidays. The rooms are often used by external groups during these times. All students are welcome to stay during the February and May half-terms.

We provide an extensive bus service leaving campus at 4:15pm (Monday-Friday) for students returning home. More information on transport can be found on our Transport page.

Compass travel provide a public bus service to the college and the bus stop the Half Moon located at the end of the drive. The public bus can take you to Plumpton, Lewes and Haywards Heath using the 166, 167, 168 and the 468 for more information please visit the Compass website.


The student services team are always happy to provide a shuttle service to local train stations if and when they are available.

We have a covered bike shelter for you to store your bike and free onsite parking for cars and motorbikes. Upon arrival, you will need to register your car with student records who will issue a permit for you to display.

You don’t need to! All our accommodation is full board and includes three meals per day. The canteen also opens at 9pm for tea, toast and post, providing you with another opportunity for a hot drink & a snack. You will also have access to a small kitchenette shared between everyone in your block that contains a fridge, kettle and a microwave. If you do miss cooking, we offer an array of cooking classes.

In our over 18 accommodation, there is access to an oven if you would like to do your own cooking.

There is a broad enrichment programme of activities and events built on student voice. You will help to choose trips such as go karting, cinema, sports, arts and crafts and so much more. We also do a trip each week to the local supermarket.

We have a range of facilities for you to use which includes a gym, library, access to board games, DVDs, Netflix, a gaming lounge and e-sports competitions.

students may wish to register here, especially if they have on going medical concerns. Students should visit the student services desk at 8:30am on the morning they wish to make an appointment; we can then provide transport. 


Our friendly and supportive student services team provide 24 hour awake cover which means we are always available for a chat if you are feeling home sick or need to talk. We can also signpost you to our wellbeing and safeguarding team, assist you in calling home or provide you with details of any other external support that you may need.

Yes! You’ll have access to fast, reliable Wi-Fi across the residence, including your room – perfect for streaming, studying, and gaming.

When you first arrive, you’ll be given a temporary Wi-Fi login so you can get connected right away without any hassle. During your induction week, please make sure you visit the IT Helpdesk to set up your permanent residence Wi-Fi. This will be assigned specifically to you and your device for secure, ongoing use.

All students are issued with a residential key card, this gives access to your accommodation block, some bedrooms are accessed with a keycard and some with an additional physical key. The loss of a keycard will incur a £5 deduction from the room deposit and the loss of a key has a £20 charge.

Any damage caused by you will be deducted from the room deposit. Charges over £100 will be invoiced separately.

Sorry, no pets or animals are permitted onsite. The exception to this is support and medical assistance animals which must be discussed with the student services team before moving in.

If we have the availability you may wish to move. If you stay within the under 18 accommodation, you will be expected to follow the same regulations as the under 18s within that block.

It is vital that you follow the terms and conditions of the accommodation, failure to do so may result in us asking you to leave the accommodation. This also includes following the code of conduct within your curriculum area. Students within accommodation are expected to maintain an attendance rate of 95% and punctuality of 100%.

We currently use Circuit laundry and have 4 washing machines and 4 tumble dryers for you to use. You can access these by downloading the cicuit laundry app using a smart phone and top up using paypal. 

We offer laundry workshops as part of our lifeskills induction, so you don’t mix your darks and your lights!

At the moment we don’t have a shop onsite but we do provide transport to the local supermarket once per week. We also have fully stocked vending machines and additional purchases within the canteen, graze café and potting shed. The closest village shop is in Plumpton Green, approximately a 40 minute walk away.
