Governance

Governing Body – Corporation

Plumpton College is overseen by a Governing Body known as the Corporation. The Corporation plays a vital role in setting the strategic direction of the College, providing oversight, support and constructive challenge to senior leaders, and ensuring that public funds are used effectively and responsibly.

Strong and Highly Effective

The Corporation endeavours to conduct its business in accordance with the seven principles identified by the Committee on Standards in Public Life: selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty and leadership. It also works in accordance with The Code of Good Governance for English Colleges, which has been adopted by the College.

Our Governors

Most governors are independent members appointed by the Corporation for their skills, experience and expertise. Collectively, they bring knowledge from a wide range of sectors, including education, business, land-based industries and public service. The Corporation also includes two staff governors, two student governors and the Principal.

Freedom of Information

Plumpton College is committed to openness and transparency in the way we operate. Our Freedom of Information Policy explained how members of the public can request access to recorded information held by the College, in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act 2000. The policy outlines:

– Education profressionals who can bring knowledge and expertise in teaching, learning and curriculum development. This expertise may have been gained in school leadership or within the further education sector.

– Qualified accountants who can support financial oversight and assurance.

Equality, diversity and inclusion are of great importance to the College and are embedded in our strategic plan. We are particularly keen to increase the diversity of our governing board and would warmly welcome interest from women, young people, applicants from minority ethnic backgrounds, and people with disabilities.
