As a specialist land and environment college, we work closely with employers, professional bodies, membership organisations, local authorities and universities to ensure our curriculum stays relevant, forward-looking and connected to the real needs of industry.
Our partnerships help shape everything from course design and work placements to specialist facilities, higher education progression, research, events and professional training. They strengthen the student experience, support employers with future skills, and help us respond to the changing needs of the land-based sector.

Landex
Plumpton College is a member of Landex, the land-based education membership body that supports colleges and providers across the sector. This partnership gives Plumpton access to sector insight, labour market intelligence and opportunities to contribute to national conversations around skills, education and workforce development.
Working with Landex helps strengthen curriculum planning, staff development and quality improvement, while ensuring Plumpton remains closely aligned to the priorities and future needs of land-based industries.

Sussex Chamber of Commerce
Plumpton College has been involved in the Local Skills Improvement Plan from its early stages, working with Sussex Chamber of Commerce and other stakeholders to help align education with employer need. This kind of collaboration is important in making sure students develop the skills local industries need now and in the future.
By contributing to local and regional skills planning, Plumpton can respond to skills gaps, support economic growth and ensure its courses remain relevant to employers across Sussex and beyond.

East Sussex County Council and local authority partnerships
Plumpton College works with public sector partners including East Sussex County Council to support skills, employability and community impact. These relationships help the college contribute to regional priorities while extending access to education and training.
Public sector partnerships also support outreach and progression activity, helping Plumpton engage different communities and widen participation in land-based and environmental careers.

University of Greenwich
Plumpton College’s partnership with the University of Greenwich supports progression into higher education and the development of specialist degree-level study. This partnership has strengthened the college’s university-level offer, including programmes linked to sustainable land management, horticulture, agriculture and rural business.
For students, this means clearer progression routes and access to higher-level qualifications that reflect industry demand. For employers, it helps create a stronger pipeline of graduate talent with specialist technical knowledge.

FE Sussex and regional collaboration
Plumpton College works closely with FE Sussex partners and other providers across the region to support coordinated skills development, reduce unnecessary duplication and ensure learners have access to clear, differentiated pathways.
As a specialist land-based college, Plumpton plays a distinctive role in the regional education landscape. Collaboration with other providers helps ensure that specialism is well understood, that progression routes are clearer, and that local skills planning benefits from a broader partnership approach.

Royal Horticultural Society (RHS)
Plumpton College is proud of its connection with the Royal Horticultural Society through One Garden Brighton and its horticultural training offer. In January 2026, One Garden Brighton, restored and managed by Plumpton College, was announced as an RHS Partner Garden for 2026. This recognition reflects the quality of the garden as a centre for horticultural excellence and its role in education, outreach and skills development.
As one of the leading RHS-accredited training providers, Plumpton supports horticultural learners through qualifications, adult learning and specialist progression routes. The partnership strengthens our reputation in horticulture and helps connect students to a respected professional body within the sector.
