Are you an experienced equine professional and inspiring educator, ready to lead and shape the next generation of talent in the equine industry?
Plumpton College is seeking an ambitious and student-centred Programme Manager – Equine to lead, develop and deliver outstanding equine programmes that combine academic excellence, industry relevance and exceptional student experience.
This is a pivotal role within our Equine and Adventure Sport provision, combining curriculum leadership, high-quality teaching, team leadership and strong industry engagement.
About the role
As Programme Manager, you will have strategic and operational responsibility for equine programmes, ensuring they are innovative, rigorous and aligned with awarding body and industry requirements. You will lead teaching, learning and assessment, support and develop staff, and ensure students achieve excellent outcomes and progress confidently into employment or further study.
Alongside programme leadership, this is a teaching post, allowing you to model outstanding practice in the classroom and in practical settings, while influencing quality across the wider team.
Key responsibilities include:

Leading the design, delivery and continuous improvement of equine programmes

Driving high-quality teaching, learning and assessment to consistently good or outstanding standards

Managing student performance, attendance, progress and safeguarding with a strong focus on student success

Leading quality improvement activity, including self-assessment, QIPs and external quality processes

Supporting, coordinating and motivating programme staff, fostering a collaborative, high-performing team culture

Developing strong employer and industry links to enhance curriculum relevance and student progression

Contributing to marketing, recruitment events and the wider strategic ambitions of the College
What we’re looking for
You will bring strong sector credibility alongside proven educational leadership. You will be passionate about student success, confident leading teams, and motivated to continuously raise standards.
Essential:

Degree or equivalent professional qualification
-
Relevant teaching qualification
-
Significant equine industry experience (minimum BHS Stage 2)

Proven ability to deliver consistently good or outstanding teaching
-
Experience leading or contributing to the development of teaching, learning and assessment
-
Excellent communication, organisation and IT skills
-
A strong commitment to safeguarding, equality and student wellbeing
Desirable:

BHS Stage 3 or above
-
Supervisory or team leadership experience
