  • Location: Plumpton, Lewes BN7 3AE

Description

This role is available as all year or term-time only.

We have an exciting opportunity for an individual to join our industry-leading team on a full-time basis, working closely with our Inclusive Learning and Development Lead and Outreach Programme Developer to adopt innovative approaches to support young people who are not currently in education. You’ll play a vital role in helping them transition back and take the next steps toward Further Education.

Whether you’re a Qualified Teacher, Unqualified Teacher, HLTA, TA, or Home Tutor — if you're passionate about making a difference in young lives, we want to hear from you.

About the Role

As an Outreach Learning Practitioner, you will be the bridge between disengagement and re-engagement. You'll support young people aged 16–19 — many with an EHC plan and/or Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including SEMH and Specific Learning Difficulties — in building the confidence and skills they need to re-enter education.

Your role will include:

  • Delivering group sessions focused on personal growth, reflective practice, and progression planning.
  • Offering 1:1 support to students and their families, tailoring transition strategies to individual needs.
  • Working collaboratively with college staff to reduce barriers to learning and enable successful educational journeys.
  • Supporting young people during unstructured times and during core teaching lessons, as well as assisting with events that foster transition and inclusion.

Who We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate is:

  • Empathetic, dynamic, and proactive.
  • Skilled in behaviour management and building rapport with vulnerable young people.
  • Experienced in working with students with SEND, particularly those with SEMH.
  • Confident in adapting lesson content and delivering formative assessments.
  • Knowledgeable about person-centred transition planning and progression pathways.

A full UK driving licence is essential (minibus driving is a plus).

Minimum Level 2 Literacy and Numeracy required. A teaching qualification is desirable but not essential — what matters most is your drive to inspire and support.
