Description

There’s never been a more exciting or appropriate time to consider a teaching career at Plumpton College. With the significance of change in the industry and ambitious plans for continued development at the College, including our prestigious RHS programmes and higher level (FdSc) courses, we’re excited about the future.

Our curriculum has grown over the last 4 years, more than doubling in size, and as such we are looking to expand our diverse teaching team at the College.  We are looking to recruit a new member of the team to meet the demand of students wanting to study horticulture and support the sector in recruiting higher level graduates to the industry.

The post will require a dedicated professional horticulturalist, preferably with a teaching background, but full training will be provided to the successful candidate.  The role will require delivering across the department and could include teaching on our study programmes, apprenticeships, and Adult provision at our satellite centres in Brighton and Hastings.

Our award-winning destination garden, One Garden Brighton, provides a showcase for our students which combined with the diverse styles of gardens at Plumpton College cements our place as a centre of excellence for horticulture and provides a great opportunity for existing horticulture teachers and industry professionals looking for a career change.

“Becoming a lecturer at Plumpton College offered me the chance to give something back, advise young entrants coming into the industry and allowed me to pass on my passion…..which I hope has had a real impact on the students I teach…to play a part in their journey is a unique opportunity for anyone” (Lecturer & PGCE Trainee).
