We are seeking a dedicated and proactive College Caretaker to join our Estates team and play a vital role in ensuring our campus is safe, clean, and professionally presented. This is a varied, hands-on position where your practical skills and pride in your work will make a tangible difference to the daily experience of students, staff, and visitors.

About the Role 

As a key member of the Estates team, you will help maintain the smooth running of the college through a blend of coordination and practical site support. Your responsibilities will include: 

  • Supporting and coordinating daily cleaning operations. 

  • Acting as the main contact for waste management and contributing to effective recycling systems. 

  • Carrying out regular site checks, addressing hazards, and supporting fire safety procedures as a Fire Warden. 

  • Ensuring classrooms, offices, and communal spaces are professionally presented each day. 

  • Providing portering support, including deliveries, office moves, and event preparation. 

  • Completing basic building and maintenance tasks such as lighting replacements, signage installation, and minor repairs. 

  • Playing an active role in improving energy efficiency by carrying out checks, reporting issues, and encouraging positive behaviours.

About You 

We are looking for someone who is reliable, supportive, and committed to maintaining high standards across our campus. You will bring: 

  • A full UK driving licence 

  • Confidence carrying out manual handling tasks 

  • Practical ability to complete basic maintenance work 

  • Level 2 English and Maths 

  • Confidence using machinery and basic IT systems 

  • A good understanding of COSHH regulations 

  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach 

  • The ability to work at height when required 

Experience in a similar role or possession of relevant licences (e.g., forklift, D1 minibus) would be an advantage.
