THE ROLE
Are you a passionate and skilled home baker who wants to develop their hobby into a profession? A bakery apprenticeship is a perfect way to learn all the elements of professional bakery in a commercial kitchen, working alongside a talented and motivated Head Baker. One Garden Brighton’s Bakery Apprenticeship offers the opportunity to bake and develop recipes and ideas with fresh, local ingredients and the latest equipment, whilst earning a salary and receiving weekly formal training.
This is an exciting opportunity to work with us as our Apprentice Baker – which will include a mixture of on and off the job training. The Level 2 Apprenticeship is 18 months in duration and will equip you with the skills required to embark on a career in bakery. The apprentice baker will learn how to work safely with machinery, manage supplies and come up with ideas for new products.
Under the direction of our onsite baker, you will create exceptional products which will be served to our guests in One Kitchen. You will have opportunities to work independently and develop your baking skills within a professional, commercial environment. Working in the kitchen you will be actively involved in ensuring that our catering facilities are fully compliant with food safety & hygiene regulations.
The successful candidate will also be supported to obtain Functional Skills English and Maths or equivalent, if not already held.
The Apprenticeship training will be delivered in a hybrid model, with 50% taking place at Plumpton College, and 50% online. This will constitute one day per week, with the remaining 4 days per week being based at One Garden Brighton.
