Description
Plumpton College is seeking an experienced and inspirational Assistant Curriculum Manager – Adventure Education to help lead and shape our dynamic outdoor and adventure provision.
This is an exciting opportunity for a high-performing Adventure Education professional who is ready to step into a curriculum leadership role, combining outstanding teaching with team development, quality improvement and employer engagement.
About the Role
Reporting to the Curriculum Manager – Equine and Adventure Education & Sport, you will:

Design, develop and manage high-quality Adventure Education programmes aligned to awarding body and industry requirements

Deliver consistently strong teaching, learning and assessment, modelling best practice
-
Line manage and mentor staff, supporting performance, development and wellbeing
-
Lead quality improvement activity including standardisation, internal verification and KPI monitoring

Ensure robust health and safety practice across practical outdoor provision

Support recruitment, marketing and stakeholder engagement to grow provision and strengthen employer partnerships

Monitor student progress, attendance and destinations to drive positive outcomes

Embed safeguarding, equality and inclusion across all aspects of delivery
You will play a key role in ensuring learners develop not only technical competence but also confidence, resilience and employability skills that prepare them for industry, higher education or further study.
About You
We are looking for someone who:

Holds a degree or professional qualification in Adventure Education and/or a sports-related subject

Has a recognised teaching qualification appropriate to the level of delivery

Holds relevant industry awards, such as:
-
Mountain Training RCI and/or Climbing Wall Instructor
-
Mountain Training Summer Mountain Leader
-
British Canoeing Instructor Award (Canoe/Kayak/Paddle Sports)

Has extensive industry experience and strong specialist subject knowledge

Has a proven track record of good or outstanding teaching

Can lead the development of teaching, learning and assessment across programmes

Is an effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills

Is highly organised, adaptable and confident using data and digital systems

Holds Level 2 English and maths (or equivalent)

Is committed to safeguarding and promoting student welfare
Supervisory or team leadership experience is desirable.
