Confirm your residential status

Prepare Income and Benefits Evidence for Upload

In order to assess your bursary application we will need review all income and benefits received by all members of your household. Please ensure you have evidence of these ready to upload. Follow the steps below to prepare your documents:

Save all of your files on to one device 

Ensure you have all of your evidence documents saved onto the device which you will use to complete this form (your phone, tablet or computer).

File formats accepted are as follows:

  • Microsoft Office documents .doc, .docx, .xls, .xlsx
  • Adobe Acrobat .pdf
  • Image file formats .jpg, .png

What to do if the evidence is in hard-copy only, such as a printed letter

For hard copy/printed documents, you will need to scan or take a photo of the document so that you have a digital copy.

Scan or take a photo of the cover page of the document, ensuring this shows your name, the date and the details of the benefit account. 

Please make sure the key information is in focus and readable. We may need to ask you for additional pages of the document if the details are not clear or the key information is not included.

How to upload files from your phone

iPhone

When you click on a “Choose File” button in any form, you'll see the following options: 

  • Take Photo or Video - allows you to take a new photo using your device and save this in the form.
  • Photos - allows you to select an existing photo from your device.
  • Browse - allows you to view documents on your device from any app that is considered a storage provider. 

Android

When you click on a “Choose File” button in any form, you'll see the following options: 

  • Camera - allows you to take a new photo using your device and save this in the form.
  • Files - allows you to view existing images and documents on your device.
     

Important information

The HE hardship fund is provided for use at the student’s discretion to assist with the study of the course for the academic year. This allocation is from a limited fund, once the fund has been exhausted, it will not be renewed until the following academic year.

This can range from £600 - £1000 depending on household income and the students assessed need for assistance. The evidence provided must demonstrate that the student is in dire financial need which could impact their study and completion of their course.

If awarded the bursary assistance the payments will be made at three intervals throughout the academic year. Students who withdraw from their course between payments will not be eligible for the remaining payments.
