Meet Sarah Bolland, our Student Wellbeing & Safeguarding Manager

How did you get into your role at Plumpton College?

I am now moving into my third academic year at Plumpton, coming from a varied safeguarding and student support background in formal and informal education. I have been working with young people and young adults since I was 19 years old and still love it.

What’s the favourite part about your job?

In my role I often meet students who have hit challenges in life, it is honestly a privilege to me to get to be a part of their journey. Tracy and I are often the safety net they need while they find their feet. We helped many students through some serious obstacles and nothing makes us feel prouder than watching them succeed.

What do you love most about Plumpton College?

The students and staff make Plumpton the incredible place it is. Plumpton has a wonderful team of passionate, caring and supportive staff and I love working closely alongside them to help all our students reach their potential.

If you had your time again, would you do anything differently?

Wow that’s deep. I would have more dogs! I love dogs...a lot!

What advice would you give to students thinking about studying at Plumpton College?

As the saying goes ‘you get out what you put in’, I would advise them to embrace every moment because this time of discovery and learning is precious and there is a wealth of knowledge in our tutors just waiting for you. I would also tell them to buy some wellies!!

Anything else you’d like to add?

Just that we are here for students who have hit a tough time, are struggling and need some advice, so don’t hesitate to contact us on whatsapp 07387 411834 or via email on safeguarding@plumpton.ac.uk

We really value the importance of mental health and well-being at Plumpton College; ensuring that all students have access to help, support and advice as and when they need it.

We have recently launched our new series of mental well-being information and videos from Andrew Wright from Action your Potential and we'll be sharing his insightful content over the coming weeks. We will be adding a video each week to our student well-being pages, so please do follow us on that - we have also included instructions on how our students and carers can access even more of Andrew's insights concerning mental health and well-being. To watch just follow the instructions here and go to the Plumpton page and enter the password: nnplc20.
