GCSE English & maths results higher than national pass rates

Plumpton College students today celebrated successful results after completing their GCSE English and maths alongside their studies.
Students attended College today to receive their grades. 31.7% of students studying English achieved a high grade (4-9) a 3% increase on results compared to last year and a 21% increase on results from 2014/15. 5 students were successful in achieving grades 6 -7.
28% of students studying maths achieved a high grade (4-9), higher than the national average of 22.7%. Under the new specification, Plumpton has retained this result in a year which saw changes to the number of exams as the new standards came into place.
Head of Faculty for English, Maths and Learning Support Phaedra Tanghe commented that
Hard work, perseverance and resilience have been key factors to the success of our students as well as the additional help from the learning support team who have supported students with exam practice sessions, revision classes and study support.
