Course Overview

  • This course will be taught in-person, with an 80% theory, 20% practical split. 
  • Learners can progress to the L3 Certificate in Small Animal Hydrotherapy to then progress into employment as a hydrotherapist upon completion of this course. 

 

Modules

The course includes topics such as:

  • What is hydrotherapy
  • Why it is used and its benefits
  • Basic water properties and how they assist treatment
  • The life of a hydrotherapist
  • Cold water swimming vs hydrotherapy
  • Handling of dogs for fun swims
  • Basic gait analysis and what to look for with your own dog
  • Session demonstrations for medical cases

As this is an introductory course, please note you will not be treating rehabilitation cases and further study is required to work as a small animal hydrotherapist.

Assessment

This course is not formally assessed. Knowledge and understanding will be checked through in-class activities.

Entry Requirements

This course is suitable for anyone with an interest in canine rehabilitation and hydrotherapy. There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification.
