Talented metalwork students from Plumpton College have showcased their creativity and craftsmanship by designing and producing the new Chains of Office for the President and Vice-President of the local Chamber of Commerce.

The commissioned pieces were unveiled at the students’ Graduation last Wednesday evening, where Emma Scorgie, a Chamber representative, officially accepted the necklaces on behalf of the organisation. The special commission was completed voluntarily by the students in their own time, on top of their regular coursework.

Given only a broad brief, the students collaborated to create designs that reflect the history and character of the local area. Their thorough research into the region’s heritage informed a final product that was not only beautifully made but deeply connected to the community’s identity.

Emma Scorgie, who attended the graduation to receive the Chains took the time to admire all the students’ final projects. She was joined by the students' teacher Tom Carter, Principal Jeremy Kerswell, and others in proudly modelling the completed Chains of Office.

The Chamber expressed its enthusiasm about building on this connection with the college, confirming that they are sponsoring the annual ‘Student of the Year’ award.

The collaboration stands as a testament to the potential of local talent and the strong ties between education and the wider community.
