What is Forest School Training?

UK Forest School training typically combines theory with practical experience, covering areas such as child development, inclusive practice, environmental awareness, practical skills and risk–benefit assessment. Participants learn how to plan and lead sessions safely and ethically, while fostering independence, curiosity and a strong connection to the natural world. Whether working in early years, schools, alternative provision or community settings, Forest School training equips practitioners with the skills and confidence to create meaningful outdoor learning experiences that complement formal education and support holistic development.

Training courses & CPD

Our Forest School training courses have been running for over 15 years and we have trained over 500 Forest School practitioners in Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 Forest School Adult Training Courses and CPD. Our Forest School courses can lead to an exciting and dynamic career working with children, young people or adults, in nature's wild spaces. These qualifications can equip you to work in a Forest School leadership role within a school, as an independent practitioner or as part of the many outdoor or environment-based organisations.

If you’re looking to explore a career in Forest Schools, you’ll have the chance at Plumpton to study and work in a successful, supportive and inspiring setting.
