Course Overview
This workshop offers a unique opportunity to learn the art of spindle making using chestnut wood, a material prized for its durability, workability, and natural beauty.
Spindles are essential components in various types of furniture, such as chairs, tables, and staircases, where they provide both structural support and decorative detail.
Throughout the workshop, you will learn how to:
- select the right chestnut wood
- shape it into spindles using hand tools
- finish the spindles to highlight the wood's natural characteristics
We will cover essential techniques such as turning, shaping, and smoothing, as well as tips for achieving consistency in your designs.
