One Day Course
Get a taste of blacksmithing
This course is aimed at beginners to give you an introduction into the world of blacksmithing.
During your time with us, you will be manufacturing your very own small-scale decorative item to take home with you at the end of the day.
You will be given a range of seasonal objects to choose from but we welcome you to bring along your own ideas, however adaptations may have to be made to ensure they are achievable in the timescale.
Whilst manufacturing your piece you will learn how to:
- Control a solid fuel forge
- Perform the traditional techniques that have remained unchanged for centuries:
- Forging: drawing out, upsetting
- Forming: bending, twisting
- Cutting: chiselling, punchin
- Joining: fire welding, rivetin
Equipment required: Please make sure that you bring your own Steel Toe-capped Boots, a pen and a notepad.

Duration | 1 day course 9:00 - 17:00 Who is a one day workshop suitable for? A One Day workshop is an experiential day for individuals with limited to no knowledge of the area being covered. It is a fun social unaccredited course that could be suitable to be given as a gift or to join in order to meet likeminded people. If you are looking at this workshop for Continued Professional Development or enhanced skill development please refer to our fully accredited adult part-time courses. There are no entry requirements for this course. |
