Elevate your vineyard management skills with our Advanced Principles of Vinegrowing – Summer Operations course. Over three days, explore and learn about canopy management including wire lifting and shoot positioning, trimming and leaf stripping. Crop yield management, pest and disease management, yield estimation, fruit sampling and analysis and harvest preparations will also be covered. Modules
- Day 1: Canopy Management and Disease Management
- Day 2: Yield Estimation and managing crop load for optimal ripeness, fruit sampling and preparing for harvest
- Day 3: Practical Session – Evaluating canopy area and making decisions on management, yield estimation and fruit sampling techniques
Assessment
At the end of the course, participants will take part in a short test to assess their knowledge of the course content. Upon successful completion, attendees will receive a Certificate of Achievement in Spring Vineyard Management, showcasing their mastery of critical spring vineyard tasks.

Please note Plumpton College Wine Division have recently secured some funding, allowing for a reduction in price to a selection of wine courses, subject to eligibility*.
*Learners will be eligible for funding if they were aged over 19 on 31st August 2024 and have been resident in the UK for the last 3 years. Learners living in devolved areas (eg Greater London Combined Authority) will not be eligible for funding. Learners currently undertaking an apprenticeship will not be eligible for funding.
