We are delighted to announce that Plumpton College residency will be up and running and welcoming new and returning students in September.
Our residential team have been busy developing a ‘new normal’ and have thought long and hard about how we can ensure our resident students are safe, happy and well looked after during their time with us.
In order to do this, we have made a few adjustments and changes to how residency will work for a while.
From September 2020 our resident students will be living in ‘households’ according to their age, gender and the subjects they study. These ‘student families’ will be able to live, learn and socialise together just like any other family would. With a ready-made student family on arrival, settling into residential life will be easier than ever.
There will of course be a few changes as to how we move around the hostel areas in line with government guidelines and advice. Our facilities, rooms and common areas will have stringent additional cleaning regimes in place and we are certain that as long as we all take care and follow the guidelines, our resident students will enjoy the same high levels of student experience as ever.
For a while, timetabling may be quite different, so we are allocating residents their own specific study room for online learning days and because you are on campus you will have additional opportunities to be supported by your teachers and tutors.
With all the changes in timetabling, we will also be able to offer you the opportunity to get involved in the practical side of your curriculum more than ever before, and we’ll be working with your teaching staff to provide you with an enhanced practical learning experience.
The high levels of support available from our residential team remains the same and you will still get the same 24hr dedicated support we have always provided.
We don’t want the fun to stop either and our enrichment calendar will be as full and as fun as ever!
There will be events and activities for you to enjoy, just with a few tweaks here and there to keep us all safe. We’re even throwing you a socially distanced freshers party where you’ll have the opportunity to meet new friends!
There will be a virtual freshers fair, some great community projects planned, and of course Friday night’s not Friday night without a zoom quiz thrown into the mix!
As ever we want you to get involved in as much as possible because we know that’s the best way to get the most out of your residential experience.
