Being on campus

We are looking forward to re-opening in September and welcoming our students back to College.

We are putting safety measures in place and we will be operating the smooth running of the site a little differently. These measures will apply to our students and to anyone who visits the campus.

We will review these measures during study week against the latest Government guidance and our own assessment of risk.

Due to the social distancing measures that we are putting in place there will be less students onsite each day that we’d normally expect.

The changes

Measures we are implementing to ensure your safety will include:

Hand Washing

Good hygiene remains a priority for us and so you’ll be asked to wash your hands when entering buildings and before eating.

Find our Hygeine Policy here.

Access to the College

How you access the site will also change and we have put in place one-way systems, no entry areas and queuing systems which you’ll need to follow.

Social Distancing

We have revised the layouts of all of our classrooms and social spaces to ensure that we maintain safe distances without impacting on your learning.

Please read about our face covering policy below.

Face Coverings

Face coverings are to be worn in all enclosed common areas and by all staff and students. We feel that this is the right approach to take from the offset.

Just to be clear, common areas are places like;

  • The corridors,
  • Queues for food in the canteen,
  • The toilets,
  • On minibuses and on the buses that bring you to the College
  • Or any enclosed space where social distancing can’t be maintained.

This will mean that you will need to wear a face covering when entering the college buildings and that’s why we are asking you to check you have it before you leave home and that you have one on your person ready to use at all times. If you lose it or if it breaks we will have a small stock of coverings that you will be able to purchase.

Due to changes in government guidelines we will now be operating at full capacity. Students will still be expected to wear face coverings while travelling and a queueing system will be in place at the end of the day while waiting for the buses. As always the buses remain only for Plumpton College students

Food and Drink

Changes to our catering outlets will see the Dining Room being the main service area with the two snack bars only opening if numbers onsite exceed a certain level. You’ll still be able to access a wide variety of food and drinks.

Over the summer we’ll be inviting you to give us your views on how we structure our catering offer going forwards.

Safeguarding - Onsite and Online

All our staff will be working from September and as such there will always be a member of our safeguarding team onsite to provide you with the support you need

During the lockdown phase we’ve been really encouraged by how well our students have engaged with our safeguarding team online and so just like your academic delivery we will be continuing this blended approach to student support moving forwards. (Student Support)

Student Union Support

Our Student Union will also continue to play a central role in shaping how your student experience feels.

SU elections will run just like any year and we’ll soon be publicising a range of enrichment events and community activities through our social media channels to ensure that you get the most out of this so make sure you are following us on Instagram and Facebook.
