To successfully manage Dedham Vale Vineyard to produce a high yield of best

quality fruit.

Job Location: ​Green Lane, Boxted, Colchester, Essex, CO4 5TS

THE ROLE/KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 Winter pruning operations

 Canopy management including: budrubbing, tucking in, vine topping and

leaf removal.

 Prepare and implement a vine spraying programme suitable for Dedham

Vale vineyard weather patterns

 Weed control and mowing

 In some occasions you may need to contract and supervise external labour.

 Organize and manage harvest.

 Maintain the trellis in good condition all year round.

 Keeping regular communication with the Vineyard owners.

 Ensuring that all vineyard machinery and equipment stays in good order

 Helping with vineyard tours

 Support the sales team effort.

Non-Essential Job Functions

 Assisting in labelling and order preparation when required.

 Support other areas of the business as required.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

 2 years experience in vineyard work or management.

 Competent tractor driving with vineyard implements.

 Very strong organising, planning, and problem solving skills.

 Excellent (English) verbal and written communication skills.

 Competent computer skills in Microsoft Office/Mac.

 Valid driver’s license and ability to drive a car.

 PA1, PA2 and PA3.

 Able to work on your own and as part of a team

 Able to work outdoors in all weathers and capable of lifting 12Kg crates

regularly

 Full right to work in the UK.

Other qualifications

 Knowledge of viticultural and winemaking equipment, processes and

procedures in wine production. 

 Online sales experience.

 Some practical lab experience.

 WSET qualification

 Experience of supervising contract labour

 Experience of vineyard establishment highly desirable

 Detail oriented, takes initiative.
