Part- time, seasonal Gardening help required in BN18HL. Suit experienced Horticulture student.

Large rear garden, 5 mins from ASDA Hollingbury, Brighton. Hours to suit your other work.  Immediate start for someone with gardening and/or garden maintenance experience - 4 hours per week, possibly more, as required. Generous hourly rate £11- £14 DOE plus small local travel allowance.

There is room for your ideas and suggestions, in particular, related to planting.  This could be quite a creative undertaking for someone who is interested in making bee-friendly spaces and developing green areas such as borders, vegetable beds and sections of re-wilding.

This is a large sloping site with some perennial shrubs, a silver birch tree and  a couple of small fruit trees.  The area has been redesigned and has has some landscaping work done intermittently, over the last five years

I am a retired professional, now a carer for an elderly relative who lives nearby, so looking for someone reliable to help complete this garden project.  There have been recent changes in ground levels using gabions, with the addition of tons of soil, all now in place.  A slate border has been made. There is no intention to use hard landscaping in the rear garden, apart from newly created raised beds and an existing patio. I do not use any pesticides /chemical fertilisers.

The work involves:

  • final levelling and overseeing the creation of new area of lawn / mowing existing.  Tools provided.
  • weeding and cutting back large shrubs
  • planting perennials/  planting up low gabion walls.
  • some garden maintenance e.g. re-establishing access through an archway,  due to collapse of large clematis, reorganising composting areas, clearing area for future greenhouse base.
  • help with waste disposal
  • general gardening work in small front garden and around side of house/ patio/ /watering

How to apply: Please email me, explaining which of the above match your skills. Let me know about  about your current work/ studies,  any qualifications and all relevant courses you have done, plus your employment or work experience details, past or present.
