Processing Manager required for new, ethical fishmonger in Eastbourne.
There are approximately 30 to 40 family owned fishing boats operating out of Eastbourne's Sovereign Harbour. Nearly all the boats are running and operating completely static fishing gear (static nets and pots etc and not beam or net trawling). This method of fishing is classified as 'low impact' fishing with low environmental damage and has created an extremely successful and stable local industry which the role of the Processing Manager will play a key role in building for the future.
The fisherman have successfully built a brand -new landing and processing facility, and we are looking for a Processing Manager to oversee setting it up and running the new operation.
Job responsibilities will include:
Recruitment, training and ongoing supervision of a small processing team of up to 4 people
Maintaining quality, health and hygiene to high standards required by our retail customers
Liaison between fishers, office and customers
Financial control through creating rotas, managing stock and inventory, and purchase management
Essential experience includes:
A comprehensive understanding of fish processing
Experience in food production for retail and wholesale customers
Man-management skills
Comprehensive understanding of HACCP and legal requirements needed to meet heath and hygiene legislation
Hours up to 40 per week.
