Why did you choose this course?
I hoped to become an estate manager.
What did you enjoy most about the course?
The mixture of practical and theory, and the chance to get industry recognised qualifications such as chainsaw and quad bike.
How has your career developed?
I am now the Woodland Supervisor of Herstmonceux Castle Estate, which is a 300 acre estate. It is a Site of Special Scientific Interest and my work involves coppicing, rhododendron control, tree planting, fencing, grass mowing, hedge cutting, habitat creation such as dormouse bird and bat boxes, pond restoration and ancient tree management.
I'm really enjoying this current role and am hoping to become a licensed dormouse handler this year and continue with the management of the veteran trees on the estate.
