One Garden Brighton is a newly redeveloped tourist destination, a walled garden, rediscovered, reinvented and opening to the public for the first time summer 2020. One Garden Brighton will feature expertly designed gardens, One Garden Kitchen, a place to eat and drink, One Garden Market, a retail space complete with nursery, and One Garden Events offering small and large-scale community events. One Garden Brighton is a subsidiary of Plumpton College.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a new organisation and team leading the initial opening of One Garden Brighton. You will be integral to building this new business, shaping and influencing how the tourist destination will run. As Plant Area Supervisor, you will work alongside the Senior Gardener, Grounds and Gardens Team and will be part of the wider One Garden Brighton Team.
This is a unique position for a dedicated, hardworking, hands on individual to be part of a team that will be working on the Stanmer Walled Garden restoration project. To begin with, you will be planning and implementing propagation and production schedules. Assisting with and designing the creation of a Plant Sales area and once the garden opens, taking a lead on the plant sales area.
Working with the Senior Gardener and Commercial Manager, you will monitor and evaluate relevant plant trends including those within the garden, in order to maximise sales. One Garden Brighton is host to Plumpton College Horticultural students. Part of your role will to be supervise students, apprentices and volunteers who will be assisting you with your work.
You will report to the Senior Gardener, work closely with the Commercial Manager and be responsible for supervising volunteers, apprentices and students by sharing your own passion for Horticulture and leading by example.
