Plumpton College is the leading provider of Forestry, Arboriculture and Woodland Management learning & education in the south- east and we are growing our provision to meet industry needs.
We are making significant investment in our facilities and resources to offer the best learning experience for our students and as we move to becoming the Southern School of Forestry and Woodland Management, we are looking to build our staff team and enhance the quality of the programmes we offer. With four management posts available, this is a great opportunity for experienced lecturers and industry professionals to consider a career with us.

Our learning programmes in Forestry, Arboriculture & Woodland Management range from Level 1 up to degree level, we offer the full range of industry Lantra & NPTC Licences to Practice, we have the largest range of short and part-time courses and are trailblazing with the introduction of the new apprenticeship standards of Forest Operative and Arborist.
Set in 850 hectares of East Sussex, we have access to some of the best broadleaf woodland in the UK and working in partnership with the Scottish School of Forestry we will also be providing students with experience of large commercial forestry operations in Scotland.
We are currently seeking to recruit to the following roles:
Curriculum Manager (£35,654 - £40,171 per annum)
The Curriculum Manager will lead & manage the division, set the direction of travel and work with our cross college curriculum management team to improve quality and delivery, ensuring the best possible student experience. This role is key to our future development and we are looking for that exceptional person who can take a more strategic overview, has proven management skills, is passionate about learning and has a real understanding of the needs of industry.
Programme Manager: Level 1 & 2 (£29,320 - £33,982 per annum)
As a manager of our level 1 and 2 programmes the successful candidate must have a passion for learning, be able to inspire students to progress and have a solid working knowledge of industry. Minimum level 2 qualification in Forestry, Arboriculture, Woodland or Countryside Management with a minimum of 5 years industry experience.
Programme Manager: Work Based Learning (£29,320 - £33,982 per annum)
At Plumpton College we pride ourselves on our work based learning provision and this is one of the fastest growing areas of our curriculum. We need a credible, competent and confident manager to really push the boundaries of what is possible, to be close to our industry partners and to drive future growth. Managing a team of trainer/assessors to grow our apprenticeship provision, developing our short course programmes and working with employers on skills development through bespoke programmes, all form part of this role. Minimum level 4 qualification in Forestry, Arboriculture or Woodland Management with a minimum of 10 years industry experience.
Programme Manager: Higher Education (£29,320 - £33,982 per annum)
Now in their 10th year, our FdSc in Arboriculture and FdSc Forestry & Woodland Management have become well respected and popular programmes; providing students with a focus on industry standard tree management and related scientific research, an understanding of current forest management practice and the factors which influence woodland management in Lowland England. We are developing our Higher Education provision to include a full BSc in Sustainable Forestry/Woodland Management for 2018/19 along with other learning aims at level 4/5. This role will define all aspects of course content at an HE level; the successful candidate will lead our HE teaching team, develop a research portfolio and grow student numbers. Minimum Level 6 qualification in Forestry, Arboriculture or Woodland Management with at least a level 3 teaching qualification.
