One Garden Brighton is a newly redeveloped tourist destination, a walled garden, rediscovered, reinvented and opening to the public for the first time in Spring 2021. One Garden Brighton will feature expertly designed gardens, One Garden Kitchen, a place to eat and drink, One Garden Market, a retail space complete with nursery, and One Garden Events offering small and large-scale community events. One Garden Brighton is a subsidiary of Plumpton College.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a new organisation and team supporting the initial opening of One Garden Brighton. You will be integral to building this new business, shaping and influencing how the tourist destination will run. As Head Chef you will lead and supervise the day to day commercial catering food production, operations and chefs team.
Your role will be to help set up our commercial Café (catering) outlets, One Garden Kitchen, a place to eat and drink, including developing the menus and food offer, as well as supporting our busy events programme and developing our commercial functions and events business.
Once the garden is open to the public you will be responsible for supervising and leading the day to day operations of a busy commercial Café and Catering business.
You will work closely with the Café (Catering) and Retail Supervisors to ensure smooth working operations of both the Market and Kitchen to maximise efficiency and best practice as well as superb customer service. Due to the nature of this tourist attraction it is anticipated that staff will work additional hours during busy seasons, with the opportunity to work reduced hours in the quieter parts of the year.
You will not be alone in this as you will have support from the One Garden Commercial Manager and the wider One Garden Brighton team together with the support of senior colleagues from Plumpton College's Head of Catering and Hospitality and Head Chef.
You will be line manager responsible for the supervision of the chefs team, apprentices, volunteers and students, sharing your own passion for horticulture, great food and service and leading by example.
