Plumpton College has despatched its first batch of wine to Nature Wine, a Korean distribution company based in Seongnam, near Seoul. Owned by South Korean Plumpton graduate Gunseob Han, Nature Wine specialises in importing unusual, organic, biodynamic and additive-free wines from Austria, Italy, Georgia, Spain, France, and now… England.
Gunseob, who graduated with a Foundation Degree in Wine Production in 2011, has very fond memories of his studies at Plumpton, particularly his work placement with a biodynamic vineyard in the Languedoc (France). He says “The aim of importing Plumpton wines is both to build the English wine brand and promote the Plumpton College courses.”
The College is the UK’s centre of excellence in wine education, training and research, and manages 9.5 hectares of vineyard in order to enable the students to gain valuable vocational experience in wine production. In 2015, Plumpton wines won two trophies, (including best small-production wine in the UK), two gold, a silver and three bronze medals in the English and Welsh Wine of the Year competition.
A pallet of Plumpton Estate Cloudy Ridge white and red still wines, plus cases of sparkling Plumpton Estate Cloudy Ridge Brut NV has started its 33-day sea journey to South Korea. We hope that it will be well received and look forward to developing a strong relationship with Nature Wine.

Since the original 400-acre College farm was bought back in 1919, Plumpton College has certainly seen a lot of changes.
