We thought it may be helpful to show you, the parents and guardians, some basics about Microsoft Teams. We ran two webinars last week doing just that, whilst also including a mini webinar taster from our wellbeing expert Andrew Wright.

  • Learning Technology Manager Steph Heath covered the support and guidance on how to use and understand our learning platform, Microsoft Teams.
  • Andrew Wright gave insight on how students and parents can achieve positive wellbeing during lockdown, and throughout the adapted academic year.

Each session ended with parent questions about online learning and accessing Microsoft Teams. See the most asked questions below:

Where can I find guidance materials for accessing college systems?

We have a student induction area which will guide you through accessing our college systems https://www.plumpton.ac.uk/student-info/important-information-for-students/student-induction/

Do you have an update on planned exams?

The current Ofqual consultation outcome will determine whether students will be able to sit exams later in the year or whether they will be assessed for those subjects in other ways. As soon as we know, we will let you know

How will online lessons be taught?

It is important that students attend their online timetabled lessons, tutors will then ensure that the lesson content is varied an engaging, students will also have opportunities for independent study, peer to peer collaboration and tutorial meetings.

I have a specific course related question regarding practical lessons, exams, tutorials, online lessons.

If you have specific course related questions, please contact your tutor directly.

Parents have been advised to liaise with student’s personal tutors or progress coach if they have questions regarding specific course related matters.
