A permanent position.

An enthusiastic all-rounder with good beef cattle experience, including vet medication, record keeping, BCMS and calving, is required for a mixed farming operation in South Norfolk. The successful applicant will, when proven, take full responsibility for the overall direction and well-being of the herd of pedigree Herefords as Herd Manager in addition to undertaking both arable and woodland work.

This is a suckler herd, currently 60 breeding cows, that we want to expand to 90 over the next four years. We currently run two bulls. We summer graze on our marshes and house during the winter months. Our animals are grass fed and grass finished and average age at slaughter is 26 months. The successful candidate will work closely with both our nutritionist and vets.

We are situated on the edge of the Norfolk Broads and the area is rich in wildlife. Conservation is very important to us and we go to great lengths to accommodate profitable farming alongside our conservation aims.

This position would ideally suit a genuine country person who has a passion for cattle and wildlife and who has the ability and drive to become the Herd Manager.

In addition, the successful applicant will have, as a minimum, good tractor and telehandler skills. PA 1 and 2 and would be useful but not essential.

This is a great opportunity for an able and ambitious team player capable of accepting direction and responsibility and who would enjoy the mixture of arable, cattle, conservation and woodland work on a diverse estate set in wonderful countryside.

Accommodation, a two bedroom cottage on the Estate, is available.
