As one of the UK’s leading environmental and engineering consultancies, Wardell Armstrong LLP are looking for a motivated and ambitious Arboriculturist to join our busy Aboricultural team based in the Stoke-on-Trent Office working within the growing Environmental Management and Planning service area.

The main duties of the position would include, but are not limited to:

  • Undertaking BS 5837 and VTA & QTRA Surveys and preparing associated reports.

  • Preparing management plans, impact assessments and method statements.

  • Providing arboricultural advice to clients including but not limited to Residential, commercial and industrial developers.



A successful candidate will require:

  • A qualification in arboriculture and/ or urban forestry to a minimum of level 4 on the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF).

  • Good tree and pest and disease identification skills and have a good understanding of tree biology and tree biomechanics.

  • Ideally have demonstrable technical experience of surveying or managing trees, including the use of surveying equipment and software.

  • Ideally have professional membership of the Arboricultural Association or be a member of the Institute of Chartered Foresters.

  • Ideally be trained and licensed in QTRA and hold the LANTRA Professional Tree Inspection certificate.

  • Ideally be trained in the use of CAD to produce tree plans, but not an essential requirement.

  • Excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing.

  • Be motivated, committed, and prepared to take on challenges and responsibility.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • The ambition and drive to develop as a professional.

  • Full UK Driving license and access to a car.
