To undertake day to day forest and arboricultural management on a range of properties managed from the Dumfries office. This will include operational planning, contract supervision and effective liaison with both clients and stakeholders. Travel to other sites within the UK may be required.
Woodland management on behalf of clients in accordance with the UK Forest Standard/ UKWAS.
To plan and supervise timber harvesting and forest management operations.
To prepare and monitor annual and operational budgets.
To compile and submit grant applications.
To maintain forest records.
To manage Health & Safety risks for operations, directly employed staff and contractors.
Tree surveys including the preparation of phased and costed implementation programmes for remedial works.
Preparation of Long Term Forest Plans and other GIS mapping tasks.
To assist in the management of the Dumfries office and in the development of the Dumfries office business.
Any other duties as detailed from time to time by the Head of Department, and which are commensurate with the skills and experience of the post holder.
Strong client care skills.
Experience relating to GIS mapping systems.
An efficient and commercial approach.
Clear knowledge of the UK Forestry Standard/ UKWAS.
An expectation to progress to professional membership of the Institute of Chartered Foresters.
Personable and able to work on own initiative but also as part of a team.
