Cade Street Nursery was established in 1968 and has been growing garden plants ever since. Today the nurseries production is sold to wholesale customers throughout the South East of England and also via their own retail outlets on the nursery and via a market stall in London. Exciting plans exist for the future and we are keen to build a team to enable us to develop and execute these plans.
This is and exciting role producing a wide range of garden plants in East Sussex. The nursery produces over 150,000 plants each year, for sale throughout the South East to a wide range of retail outlets and through the Nurseries own retail channels. The role will include the potting, growing and packing of plants on the nursery. In addition exposure to the retail side of the business with give valuable experience for the apprentice from young plant right through to retailing the finished plant to the end customer.
This role will be based on the nursery and be hands on, involving potting, growing and dispatch of plants from the nursery. On the retail side of the business the role will include making retail displays, serving customers and helping customers with their questions. Training will be given for each role. As the apprentice grows into the role new opportunities will be given depending on the apprentices skills, to further develop the business in exciting new areas.
9-5pm, 5 days a week.
Alternate Saturdays will be required with a day in lieu in the week when a Saturday is worked.
No Sunday working is required.
Once the apprenticeship is completed there will be an opportunity for the right candidate to develop into the position of Grower at the nursery- developing the growing and production strategy at the nursery in order to drive growth in the business. Being a small business there is considerable opportunity for the right candidate to develop into a key manager in the business, supporting the business’s growth in key areas.
