Starting with a review of the different packaging options available, this winemaking workshops takes you through the key stages of one of the most important operations in a winery.
It will enable you to identify the most appropriate container and closure, ensure that the wine is prepared appropriately, and evaluate the key factors in the filling & sealing process.

Course Outline:

Topics discussed include:

  • Key features and properties of containers and closures 
  • Preparing wine for packaging: stability, sterility, protection and fitness for use
  • Packaging operations: key aspects of container preparation, filling, closing 
  • Quality control and analytical testing

Entry Requirements:

WineSkills workshops are best suited for people who have completed the Principles of winemaking programme and/or have been employed by commercial wineries.

Future Opportunities

You will develop valuable vocational skills during this programme. Gaining a good depth of knowledge combined with strong practical vineyard and winery skills, you’ll have lots of opportunities to choose from after graduating. You could become a vineyard manager or winemaker either in the UK or in one of the other wine-producing countries across the globe or establish your own vineyard or winery. Plumpton graduates are now actively involved in the wine industry throughout Europe and in Australasia, South Africa, Canada and the USA.
