Course Description

This viticulture workshop explores the management of weeds to ensure optimum vineyard performance.

This workshop will introduce different strategies for weed management in the vineyard, resulting in a comparative evaluation to help you decide what might be best for your circumstances.

This course is useful for vineyard managers and senior vineyard staff as well as people interested in this key area of vineyard science.

Course Content

  • Know your vineyard floor plants and their ecology
  • Interaction between vines and vineyard floor plants
  • Selection and implementation of:

    • cover crops
    • Herbicides
    • Soil cultivation
    • Mulching

  • Under-row weed control

Entry Requirements:

Wineskills workshops are best suited to people who have attended Principles of Vinegrowing or have worked in vineyards before.
