These RHS qualifications are intended for those wishing to work in professional horticulture in a variety of roles. They are suitable for those wishing to enter horticultural employment for the first time; for those who are already working in horticulture who want to develop their skills; and for those who wish to progress to further horticultural study at level 3. It is also suitable for those who wish to enter horticulture as a change of career and are seeking the necessary foundation skills.

The RHS Level 3 Diploma is awarded to those that who successfully achieve in both the theory based examinations and the practical based assessments.(Completion of Course 1 and Course 2 with this practical course)

We offer a flexible approach to study; the theory based and practical based qualifications can be studied separately, in isolation or in combination.

RHS Level 3 Certificate in Practical Horticulture qualification further develops the essential skills needed in horticulture. 

This course is ideal to support for those already working in horticulture looking for career development into a supervisory or management role or to further develop your interest.

Topics include Soil testing; Preparation, planning and management of propagation material; Tree planting and pruning; Identify and describe plants, seeds and plant health issues.

Each unit is assessed by either set practical activities or written assignments.

Entry Requirements:

It is strongly recommended that you have prior attainment of the Level 2 qualification as the course builds on those skills. There is an expectation of prior horticultural knowledge and experience.

Please note that due to the continual assessment within this course, a minimum of 95% attendance is required.

You will require steel toe capped boots, you may wish to bring your own secateurs.
