Have you always wanted to look further into the ancient techniques of blacksmiting?

Repousse and Chasing Repousse is a metalworking technique in which a malleable metal is ornamented or shaped by hammering from the reverse side to create a design in low relief. Chasing is the opposite technique to repoussé, and the two are used in conjunction to create a finished piece.

Learners will learn chasing: where the work is hammered on the front; sinking the metal. Embossing is hammering the metal from the back: raising the metal.

Learners will initially learn to chase metal without splitting it. Then they will dish metal before adding features to make a shell of their choice. Then they will form a complicated leaf, followed by an insect and finally a form of their own choice that has been agreed with their teacher.
