THINKING ABOUT GETTING INTO HORTICULTURE, FOR A NEW CAREER OR BETTER SKILL YOUR HOBBY?

This Certificate in Practical Horticulture is an excellent part time course for those wishing to find out more on practical horticulture elements and to see if a career in horticulture can be in your future. 

During your five weeks you will be introduced to some of the commonly required skills in horticulture such as seed sowing and ground preparations.

You will gain an insight into other areas that you may wish to learn more about and progress onto further qualifications in the field.

Entry Requirements:

No entry requirements but you must have an interest in the subject. 

Steel toe capped boots are required for this course.

The recent restoration of the walled garden has been managed by Plumpton College. One Garden Brighton is the home of the college’s horticultural centre of excellence, a space for training and education. The campus buildings are nestled within the walls itself and you will see students designing, planting and maintaining the grounds as a showcase for innovation.

Future Opportunities

Once completing this course you can continue onto the Flourish Plus programme which will enable you to progress onto the Level 2 Diploma in a Year in the Garden. 

The Flourish Plus course will give you a City & Guilds Level 1 Certificate in Practical Horticulture Skills. The Flourish Plus course gives you a broad understanding of gardening techniques and skills to maintain your garden or to seek work in the gardening industry.
