Do you want to learn about the basics of floristry?

Our Level 2 Part-time Introduction to Floristry will do just that. 

COURSE OUTLINE

This is a part-time course for 18 weeks aimed at complete beginners or those with a little experience, who wish to obtain a creative craft qualification.

The short NCFE courses are aimed at sole traders i.e. those that wish to work from home or work part-time in a florist shop.

The programme covers basic floristry skills including:

  • Conditioning techniques
  • Principles and elements of design
  • Basic hand tied bouquets
  • Presentation gift wrapping
  • Floral designs for all occasions and an introduction to wedding and sympathy work

You will complete a portfolio of work which includes photographic evidence of your completed designs and some assignment work. Your portfolio will be assessed by external moderators for the qualification.

For the first session of the course you will be making a Simple cone wrap and a single flower presentation for which you will need: (If you sourcing your own flowers)

Single flower presentation

•   2 x roses such as avalanche or similar
•   1 x stem filler flower such as gypsophila or waxflower
•   A small amount of greenery such as hard ruscus, eucalyptus and bear bear grass.

For the simple cone wrap

•   10 x focal focal flowers i.e. roses, carnations or gerberas etc.(one flower type)
•   5 x carnations, lisianthus, chrysanthemums or spray carnations etc.
•   3 x large headed lilies (open if possible)
•   3-4 x chrysanthemum blooms, sunflower or similar
•   3 x filler flowers i.e. waxflower, September, statice or gypsophila etc.

Future Opportunities

Progression onto further education, City & Guilds Level 2 Diploma in Floristry or Level 3 Certificate in Creative Craft Advanced Floral Designs.
