One day course
The course covers the selection of timber, how to measure and cut timber accurately, use of tools, making simple joints, construction of decking, and pergolas.
We use our landscape workshop with all the hand and power tools appropriate to the context, and demonstrate techniques that are useful for all genders, in an informal and fun way.
The day starts with a look at the materials used, the different types of timber and treatments, materials handling, the tools used, the techniques, theory and practice in making simple joints, and ending with preparing for and constructing a small deck.
With some practice, and doing associated courses, confidence and competence are built up to enable the student to enjoy undertaking their own projects.
