These RHS qualifications are intended for those wishing to work in professional horticulture in a variety of roles. They are suitable for those wishing to enter horticultural employment for the first time; for those who are already working in horticulture who want to develop their skills; and for those who wish to progress to further horticultural study at level 3. It is also suitable for those who wish to enter horticulture as a change of career and are seeking the necessary foundation skills.

The RHS Level 2 Diploma is awarded to those that who successfully achieve in both the theory based examinations and the practical based assessments. (Completion of Course 1 and Course 2 with this practical course)

We offer a flexible approach to study; the theory based and practical based qualifications can be studied separately, in isolation or in combination.

The Level 2 Certificate in Practical Horticulture focuses on developing essential horticultural techniques and provides a good foundation for the necessary skills required for employment in the horticultural industry. 

This practical based qualification develops core practical skills providing hands on experience across a range of tasks throughout the year.                               

Please note that due to the continual assessment within this course, a minimum of 95% attendance is required.

Each unit is assessed by set practical activities and some written proformas providing hands on experience across a range of tasks throughout the year. These include plant propagation, plant  identification, establishment and maintenance and will also give you an understanding of soil management, plant health and nutrition.

Entry Requirements:

There is no requirement for previous knowledge or experience needed for entry to the qualifications, although a keen interest and enthusiasm is, of course, key to success.

Please note that due to the continual assessment within this course, a minimum of 95% attendance is required.

You will require steel toe capped boots, you may wish to bring your own secateurs.
