City & Guilds Level 2 Technical Certificate
The City and Guilds Level 2 Technical Certificate in Floristry is for you if you are looking to start a career within the floristry industry. If you like to interact with others, be creative and are keen to develop practical, technical floristry skills, then this qualification is for you.
You will learn about different flowers and plants and how to look after them. You will also learn that there is more to floristry than flowers and that for florists to be successful, they need to understand their tools, environment and the finishing touches that make a difference. You will develop an understanding of design principles and the skills needed to apply these to the design and creation of floristry products. You will gain an understanding of how floristry business operate and develop skills needed to interact with customers and identify their needs.

You will be provided with a basic tool kit. For your first lesson you will need a small tool box or bag to carry tools home. You will also need an A4 binder folder with dividers, a calculator, note pad and pens/pencils.

Industry Work Experience:
Study programmes include a minimum of compulsory work experience hours achieved through one day a week or block placements. The amount of hours required is dependent on the study programme.
All students aged 16-18 on our Level 2 & Level 3 programmes will now have to take part in an exciting and compulsory 150 hour industry placement programme alongside completion of their vocational course. The programme will give you the chance to gain valuable skills in a real working environment whilst being paired with your ideal employer.
Our mission is to pair students with their ideal employer and to support them continuously during the placement.
There is flexibility on how students complete the placement; it can be during non-college weekdays, weekends, in blocks or over the holiday period. You will receive all of the necessary information during your interview, and if you have any queries in the meantime please contact email@example.com
The course is suitable for school leavers or adults interested in a career change. Applicants should demonstrate a clear interest in the subject as well as art and design skills.

The course is run over two days however, students under the age of 19 requiring the need to take maths and English will attend for three days a week. You will get lots of practice and support to enable you to develop the required skills and knowledge in Floristry to prepare you for the learning and end assessment where you will take a theory exam and synoptic assignment.

For students under the age of 19 taking maths and English they will be required to attend college for 3 days a week. Days not confirmed as yet.
There are material costs for Floristry courses.
To continue onto a City and Guilds level 3 Floristry qualification or the NCFE level 3 Advanced Floral Design course.
