City & Guilds Level 2 Technical Certificate
The Level 2 Technical Certificate in Floristry is a suitable qualification if you are looking to start a career within the floristry industry. If you like to interact with others, be creative and are keen to develop practical, technical floristry skills, then this qualification is for you.
Through this qualification you will learn about different flowers and plants and how to look after them. You will also learn that there is more to floristry than flowers and that for florists to be successful, they need to understand their tools, environment and the finishing touches that make a difference. With this, you will develop an understanding of design principles and the skills needed to apply these to the design and creation of floristry products, operate and develop skills needed to interact with customers and identify their needs.

Industry Work Experience:
Study programmes include a minimum of compulsory work experience hours achieved through one day a week or block placements. The amount of hours required is dependent on the study programme.
All students aged 16-18 on our Level 2 & Level 3 programmes will now have to take part in an exciting and compulsory 150 hour industry placement programme alongside completion of their vocational course. The programme will give you the chance to gain valuable skills in a real working environment whilst being paired with your ideal employer.
Our mission is to pair students with their ideal employer and to support them continuously during the placement.
There is flexibility on how students complete the placement; it can be during non-college weekdays, weekends, in blocks or over the holiday period. The course is suitable for school leavers or adults interested in a career change. Applicants should demonstrate a clear interest in the subject as well as art and design skills.

The course is run over two days however, students under the age of 19 requiring the need to take maths and English will attend for three days a week. You will get lots of practice and support to enable you to develop the required skills and knowledge in Floristry to prepare you for the learning and end assessment where you will take a theory exam and synoptic assignment.
